OSHA defines a confined space as an area that is (1) large enough and so configured that an employee can bodily enter and perform assigned work and (2) has limited or restricted means for entry or exit and (3) is not designed for continuous employee occupancy. Confined spaces can be found on many worksites, and they can limit the mobility of people who work within them. Confined spaces include (but are not limited to) underground vaults, tanks, storage bins, manholes, pits, silos, process vessels, and pipelines. This 8-hour course designed to assist your supervisors, foremen, estimators, and workers in confined space safety and to meet the required OSHA standards.

Key elements of the OSHA Permit-Required Confined Spaces 29 CFR 1926 Subpart AA:

Identification of confined space types

  • Pre-entry procedures
  • Hazard identification
  • Permit and Alternate entry requirements

  • Proper use of gas monitoring equipment

  • Duties of Attendant, Entrant and Supervisor
